BBQ Shrimp Marinade

Grilling shrimp? For lemony lusciousness, try this bbq shrimp marinade next time you're cooking on the Bar-B! The fresh taste of just-squeezed lemon juice combined with chopped, fresh herbs makes for an unforgettable seafood dish.

In fact, this seafood marinade recipe is great when used with any type of fish or shellfish. Try it with tilapia filets sometime and you'll see what I mean!

Lemon & Herbs Seafood Marinade

INGREDIENTS
1/2 cup lemon juice, freshly squeezed
1/4 cup vegetable oil
2 teaspoons onion powder
2 teaspoons fresh parsley, chopped
2 teaspoons fresh basil, chopped
1 teaspoon fresh oregano, chopped
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Add the lemon juice, onion powder, salt and pepper to a mixing bowl and stir together. Then slowly add the oil, bit by bit, whisking it in until fully emulsified. Mix in the chopped fresh herb and pour the marinade over one to two pounds of deveined, shell-on shrimp.

Marinate the shrimp for 30 minutes, drain, and grill over medium high heat until the flesh just turns opaque. Be careful that the shrimp doesn't grill to long, or it'll become rubbery.

This grilled shrimp recipe is great just about anytime. For a change of pace, you can substitute Old Bay Seasoning for the salt. Another option...add 1/4 teaspoon of ground cayenne pepper and you'll have Spicy Lemon Shrimp. Very Nice!
