Beef Brisket and Turkey Smoked at Same Time

by Greg
(NC)

I have a vertical smoker and have smoked a bunch of brisket and turkeys but have never had to do them at the same time. So what I am looking at is 2 turkeys and one brisket that I have to have done on thanksgiving day. What is the best method for this? Or should I smoke the brisket a day earlier? Or is it possible to smoke the brisket and not make the turkeys taste funny from the droppings off the brisket?

brisket and turkey in smoker

I personally would smoke them at different times. The brisket would be fine smoked the day before then reheated. That way, you'd know they both would be done at the same time, too.
