combining smoked meats

by Dawn

Hi,

I am planning on smoking a turkey for Thanksgiving but I have one of the large rectangular propane smokers and would like to smoke a couple of other things at the same time as I have the room in the smoker. Will smoking ribs and sausage with the turkey cause the turkey to taste like those meats?

Thanks,

Dawn

Smoking Turkey With Other Meats

If you smoke them all on the same rack there won't be any noticeable transfer of taste from the ribs or sausage to the turkey. If smoking on different racks, put the turkey on top, and try to position the other cuts out of the drip zone under the turkey. And if a little turkey drippings gets on the ribs or sausage, it shouldn't affect the taste to negatively.
