converting to a pellet smoker

I have a propane burner for heat in my smoker now. I recently have acquired a pellet stove. How can I convert my smoker for the pellet stove. I can't find any information on how the pellet smokers actually work.

Do I take the door off and have the fan that is circulating air in the fire chamber circulate it into the smoking chamber, or the air chambers so that the air is coming around the fire chamber?
