Grilled Shellfish Recipes

Shellfish cook quickly on the barbecue grill. With these grilled shellfish recipes you can cook oysters, clams, lobster and crab outside on the grill in a matter of minutes.

Bivalves, such as clams, mussels and oysters should be inspected well before grilling. Make sure the shells are held together tightly, which means that the critter is alive and healthy. With mussels, snip off the beards right before they go on the grill. The shells will open slightly when they are done. Remove them immediately and enjoy with a bit of salsa.

Pre-cooked crab legs are easy to grill. Place them over medium heat and cook until heated through. Serve with melted butter.

Scallops are usually bought with the shells removed and the meat trimmed. Available in different sizes, scallops are very good when wrapped with a slice of bacon, then grilled.

Grilled Lobster
In this recipe the lobster is halved, grilled then served with melted butter. The claws require a couple of minutes more on the grill than the body of the lobster, so they need to be separated before the lobster is grilled.

Grilled King Crab Legs
This is an especially easy recipe. King crab legs are heated through on the barbecue grill, then served up with cocktail sauce and garlic butter. Yum!
