insulation question for homemade ssmoker

I am making a smoker out of an old refrigerator,I pulled out all of the insulation in the fridge. Was that the correct thing to do or should I put insulation back in it?

Try it without insulation first to see how will it maintains its temperature. If you think insulation would help, use unlined fiberglass insulation.
