Making Spare Ribs In Oven

by Nathalie

Hey there,

I am trying to make some ribs this weekend but this will be my first try doing so. I need help.

All I have is an elctric oven and a microwave oven. Please help me determine how to prepare some good ribs for about 15 people. I am sorry to sound so ignorant but I would really like to learn how to make some good baby back or spare ribs and determine what kind of barbecue sauce to marinate them with!

Thanks for any help you can give me this week!

Oven Baked BabyBack Ribs

To make some good baby back ribs, you can use the instructions and recipe on this page:

Smoked Baby Back Ribs

You will need to adjust the recipe and the method a bit. To get a smoky flavor, add 1 tsp of Wright's Liquid Smoke to the marinade (1 tsp per 2 cups of apple juice). If you have time, leave the ribs in the marinade overnight for the best flavor.

Depending on your guests, you might want to decrease or delete the cayenne pepper from the marinade and the dry rub...some people are more sensitive to hot pepper taste.

To bake the ribs, it's preferable to cook them on a rack placed over a drip pan. This will keep the ribs from laying in melted grease as they bake.

Set the oven to 250 F. Bake the ribs for 2-to-3 hours, or until done. I like to baste the ribs with apple juice a couple of times in the last half-hour of cooking.

You could baste them with your favorite BBQ sauce during the last half-hour instead of apple juice, however it's not necessary. Provide a couple varieties of sauce and let your guests have a choice.
