(Nevada (not Las Vegas))

We have a new electric smoker (cabela's) and are trying it for the first time. With the old (non-electric) smoker the wood chips were soaked prior to smoking the meat. None of your recipes mention soaking or not smoking the wood chips. I have looked at the questions below but they all seem to refer to those that are actually using larger pieces of wood (logs). We are just using the bags of chips. As you can tell we are definitely "newbies" to all of this! Do we soak them or not for the electric smoker?
Thanks:)

Smoker Chips - to soak or not to soak
by: SmokerBill

When using chips in my electric smoker, I've found that it doesn't matter if they're soaked or not, as long as they are wrapped up in aluminum foil.

When soaked in water, the chips will put out steam until the wood dries enough to start smoking, and then it's just like they were never soaked in water.

Now if you're tossing loose chips on top of hot charcoal, it's then you should be soaking.
