I wouldn't use your kitchen oven for smoking, even if you have a powerful exhaust fan up above. The oven will take on a smoky aroma, and anything you cook in it after smoking will get some of that flavor. Might be good for some, but I don't think I'd like a smoky tasting angel food cake.
Now if you wanted to use an oven outdoors for a smoker, and just use it as a smoker, I think that would be a great idea.
