The Superbowl comes but once a year, so serve these special smoked Superbowl snacks at the party. These smoker recipes are easy to prepare, and quick cooking, since the ingredients used are ready-to-eat.
All three of these smoked appetizer recipes can be prepped ahead of time, so all you have to do is smoke 'em on Superbowl Sunday. The easiest of the three is kind of nutty...
This snack can be made a couple days in advance, or smoked on game day. All you'll need is...
Add the seasonings to the canned nuts. Shake the can until the nuts are seasoned evenly. Pour the nuts into a flat, shallow baking pan. Place the pan in a smoker or grill, preheated to about 200 degrees Fahrenheit. Lightly smoke the mixed nuts for 30 to 45 minutes, then serve warm.
This one is really easy. Try using several varieties of your favorite cheeses.
Cut the cheese into stick shaped pieces, wrap a slice of ham around each cheese stick, then secure the roll with a couple of toothpicks. Make sure that the ham is longer than the cheese...if the cheese begins to melt, there'll be less chance of it leaking out.
Place this smoked Superbowl snack on a shallow pan and smoke at 200 degrees for an hour, or until the cheese just begins to melt. Serve these with a variety of mustards...hot Chinese mustard, grainy brown mustard, and honey mustard are good choices here.
Slice Polish sausage, or Kielbasa, diagonally, about one-quarter inch thick. Cook in a 200 degree smoker until the juices just start to drip out of the meat, and serve with hot rolls or crackers.
These Smoked Superbowl Snacks are best smoked with a light flavored smoking wood like alder or fruitwood. Use small amounts of wood to keep the smoke light.
