Storing a Smoked Boston Butt in the Refrigerator1

by Julie
(South Carolina)

I am picking up a fully cooked smoked Boston Pork Butt on Friday. How long will it last in my fridge before having to be thrown out? Can I freeze it and reheat it at a later time? Thank you!

Freezing a Boston Butt
by: Tim 68134

When I smoke a Boston pork Butt or Shoulder it is about 5 to 6 pounds, and that is just for the two of us so I will refrigerate what is left for no longer than a week, then will freeze what is left in a food saver bag. The longest it stayed in the freezer was about 3 months before it got eaten. The best way I have found to reheat is to thaw in the refrigerate over night then reheat slowly in the oven in a covered dish. The pork has always come out moist and it tasted like it just came off the smoker.
