Air Intake
by: Anonymous

I had the same problem with a Camp chef double burner cooker and barbeque. I solved it by opening up the air intakes. Starved fuel will burn yellow and smoke, the flame should almost be invisible and blue. Hopefully that will settle your problem and avoid a new regulator...

Sooting
by: Mike F.

I work for a propane company. Sounds like the appliance regulator on the gas line is starving the burner. I would replace it. This is the only reason other than a dirty burner that sooting will occur. I dont think it has to do with the smoker box. Also are you using a different wood that is soft? Let me know as I use a vertical smoker as well...mkf1958(at)gmail.com
