Wood-heat-humidity?

by Stan
(Toledo,Oh.-Lucas)

Did a Que last Thursday. Brisket, turned out very good with nice color and bark-smoke ring was fanaminal (at east 1/4". I pre-burn ALL my wood in a barrel modded for that purpose. I usually have good control of the heat and can increase temp. to anywhere I want.My smoker is a Tejas2040CC

Question is: I couldn't get heat over 220*F(where I usually cook ) but couldn't get higher, was it humidity or the wood having been wet a week before?
Using good maple and apple and some hickory later for heat.I wanted to get 300*F to crisp some wings.

Thanks and SMOKE HAPPY :)-

Why's My Smoker Not Hot Enough?
by: SmokerBill

It could very well be that the wood still had so much moisture left in it from being wet the week before that it couldn't burn hot enough to get your smoker up to crisping temperature. I'm sure you adjusted the intake vents and flue open to allow plenty of airflow.

Try the wood again when you know it's good and dry for sure.

Nice looking smoker!
