Labor Day Weekend Recipes

Summer is winding down, and Fall is fast approaching. The days are getting shorter, nights are cooler, and schools are starting back up again. Where did Summer go? It seems like only yesterday I was writing about getting out the grills and smokers for the first time after the long, cold winter.

The days are still nice and warm, so with it being Labor Day weekend, we need to take advantage of what just might be some of the last summer weather of the year. It's the perfect time to enjoy a picnic at the park, a day at the lake, or just to spend some time in the backyard cooking up a storm with the grill and smoker.

In this edition of the BlueSmoke Gazette you'll find some of my favorite recipes for steaks, chicken, burgers, pork loin and finger foods. Try some of these recipes this weekend. If you grill and smoke all three days, you'll have time to try them all! Finish off this summer with full belly!

Try a Beer Butt Chicken...
You can't go wrong with a recipe that calls for a can of beer in the ingredient list!

Marinated Ribeye Steaks
Grilled ribeyes are good, but when they're marinated first, they are excellent!

Tasty Grilled Pork Loin
Tender pork loin is the perfect choice for the Labor Day grill. You can feed a lot of hungry mouths with this recipe.

Colossal Soy Garlic Shrimp
Use giant shrimp for this super quick recipe. Marinated for 20 minutes, then grilled for a short time, these can be made in a half hour flat.

MMMmmmmm! Smoked Meatloaf!
Better than any baked meat loaf, this recipe for smoked meatloaf is juicy and flavorful. And sliced cold, it makes great sandwiches.

Finger Food Recipes

Grilled Shrimp Skewers
The spicy seasoned shrimp make a great appetizer for any meal.

Teriyaki steak Skewers
Steak can be eaten with your fingers, too! Cut into strips and threaded on skewers, the marinated steak melts in your mouth.

Bacon Wrapped Venison Appetizers
If you don't have venison, pork loin can be substituted with great success.

Fantastic Stuffed Mushrooms
These are one popular snack any time they're made. Be sure to make enough of 'em!
